What an Angel

I love Angels, God sends them to us to watch over us and guide us. The little Angel started out as a snowman but the snowman was kind of scary looking so I made him into an Angel. Poly pellets in the bottom, feather wings, and a ring for a halo, awwwwww. I made these for the Church Christmas booth but I think I will have to make some for the grand kids, they are Angels.

Pink Zebra Cake

At work the other day one of the ladies asked if I knew anyone who could make cakes? Well, yes I do and I think she did a fantastic job on this cake in very short notice. My daughter Melanie makes cakes and she has her own blog, melaniescakehobby.blogspot.com. The pink frosting is a butter cream frosting (YUM) with black fondant stripes. Since it was short notice I went to the dollar store and bought the shoes for the cake. The shoes were silver with a clear plastic top and a big yellow flower, can you say gaudy? The shoes screwed together so I took them apart, sprayed them black, added some pink glittery wired ribbon and some black feathers. What little girl wouldn't want this cake? The lady loved the cake, Good Job Melanie!

Gobble up that Turkey

I just waana gobble this turkey up, isn't he cute? Keri and Haeley made these for our Thanksgiving dinner at Church and they were the hit of the party. So Keri proceeds to tell us she sends her husband searching our small town for candy corn....I'm thinkin You sent your husband for candy corn???? We just had Halloween how hard can this be? Well I went to Walmart and guess what, they didn't have any either and the striped round cookie was red for Christmas. Now how would my turkey look if I used a red cookie? My first thought is he would like someone just killed him for dinner, so I will not be making these this year but I wanted you to see hers. There's a rectangle cookie bottom, a marshmallow body, a red hot for a waddle, a candy corn head and a round cookie for the tail feathers and they use frosting to glue it all together, too cute. So on my blog I am apologizing to Doug for doubting his candy corn finding abilities.

Banana Cookies

I love Banana Nut Bread and these cookies taste just like it. I like the cookies right from the oven but put some frosting on them and WOW, double WOW. You could almost say they're good for you, melt in your mouth good. This recipe makes about 75 cookies and everybody will want more than one.

Banana Cookies

1 1/2 cup of Shortening
1 1/2 cup of brown sugar
2 eggs
3 bananas, mashed
1/2 teaspoon of salt
2 teaspoons of baking soda
3 1/4 cup of flour

Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees. Cream shortening and sugar, add eggs and bananas, mix well. Stir in salt, soda and flour. Drop by tablespoon onto a greased cookie sheet. Bake 11-12 minutes. Cool and frost.

Icing

2 tablespoons of Parkay butter, melted
2 cups of powdered sugar
1/2 teaspoon of vanilla
2 tablespoons of milk

Mix butter, milk, vanilla and powdered sugar, stir till spreading consistency. If its too runny and more powdered sugar, if its too thick and more milk.

**I put too much icing on them, they only need a thin layer of icing.

Some Big Pinecones

My Mom has some big pine cones in her yard and I couldn't bring myself to throw them away so my niece Alivia and her brother James helped me make a pine cone garland to go in her door way. First we went and collected them from the front yard and OUCH they sure can hurt. Then we took some sisal rope and just tied them on with a knot. They are taking some home with them to make a wreath to match the garland and they will turn some upside down and make pine cone Christmas trees that will sit on Mawmaw's window sill. Then we played, James is waving a red balloon which is causing the red blur, I like that picture. MawMaw is going to have the prettiest home in town this Christmas.

Corn Maze

I would like to say a big THANK YOU to my brother in law Danny, my brother Travis and my nephew Taylor. All three helped me in collecting the 4' x 8' sheets of coroplast that make up the walls of my Corn Maze that was part of my Church's Harvest Festival. The kids loved it and they go through it over and over and over again. Since the sheets are 4 foot tall the smaller kids can't see over the sides and they have to figure out how to get out of the there. Mom's and Dad's can see over the edge so they can help the smaller ones get out of there. Some of the rows lead to a dead end and you also have to watch out for the three little pigs and there's a cow in there somewhere. The maze is 18' x 18' and it takes over an hour to put up. I use wooden stakes and tape to hold up the walls but this year there was a bit of a breeze and I had to use ladders to help hold the outside wall up. I think next year we will need a scarecrow and maybe a tunnel to crawl through. Happy Harvest Ya'll.

Doozies

I found a new recipe for these graham cracker cookies and it looked pretty good so I tried them. Well the cookies were OK but if you put a marshmallow in the center and microwave it, IT IS GOOD. I decided it would be better if I just make regular old chocolate chip cookies and put a marshmallow in them. Just bake the cookies the way you always do,
then cut a large marshmallow in half, place it between two cookies and microwave it for about 8 to 10 seconds or until the marshmallow starts to puff up. Pull em out of the microwave and press down on the top cookie to flatten the marshmallow. That's it, I microwaved 3 cookies at a time and if it can made the so-so cookies taste good, just think of what it will do to a chocolate chip cookie.
