Baby Girl Calendar Pages

The first page is July, 4th of July. I sewed ribbon stripes on and blue paper. The stars are just stickers. The next page is June for Fathers Day with a poem "Walk alongside me Daddy". The third page is for November, Thanksgiving "Hold onto your family with both hands". The fourth page is February, Valentine's Day "You're the apple of my eye". The butterfly is an iron on that I just hot glued to the page. The stores will discount iron ons that don't move fast so check those discount bins often. The last page is for May, Mother's Day "When they placed you in my arms you slipped into my heart". Just slip these into a scrapbook with a calendar page on the opposite side and embellish.

Oatmeal Cake

For those of you who think they don't like oatmeal, try this cake. It's delicious and good for you because it has oatmeal in it. This is a good way to sneak it in someones diet. My Boss was eating a piece and He said "this is good Val what is it"? I told him oatmeal cake and he said "good thing I didn't know it or I wouldn't have tried it". My son Mike would request this for his birthday cake.

Oatmeal Cake
1 cup of brown sugar
1 cup of sugar
1/2 cup of Parkay butter
2 eggs
1 teaspoon of cinnamon
1 teaspoon of baking soda
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1 1/2 cup of flour
1 cup of quick oatmeal

Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees. Microwave 1 1/2 cups of water on high for a 2 minutes, add oatmeal and stir. Place the oatmeal in the refrigerator while you mix the other ingredients. Cream the sugars in soft butter. Add the eggs. Add the cinnamon, soda and salt. Mix well. Add he flour, the batter will be thick. Add the oatmeal and stir well. Pour the batter into a oiled and floured 13 x 9 pan. Bake for 25 minutes. While it is baking mix the glaze.
Glaze
1 stick of Parkay butter
1 1/2 cups of brown sugar
3/4 cup of milk
Bring the ingredients to a boil and simmer for about 5 minutes. Slowly pour over the cake as soon as you remove it from the oven. I pour it onto the spoon and let it flow over the cake. Place it back in the oven under the broiler for 3-5 minutes. Watch it carefully or it will burn. I like to serve it warm....ummmm.

Grandma's Chair

This is My chair. It is a rocking recliner and it is fluffy soft. It has soothed baby cries and rocked babies to sleep. This was a great chair but it is even better now because my granddaughter Tori made me a pillow for it. My daughter Sarah helped her a little bit, but she sewed it on the machine and stuffed it. What a great job...a Crafter in the Making. Now my chair is complete.

Honey Bun Cake

If you like Honey Buns you are gonna love this recipe. Look at all that swirly goodness.....yum yum.
Honey Bun Cake
1 box of yellow cake mix
3/4 cup of oil
1 cup of sour cream
4 eggs
1/3 cup of honey
1/3 cup of brown sugar
1 tablespoon of cinnamon
1/4 cup of milk
3 cups of powdered sugar
1 teaspoon of vanilla
Spray a 13 x 9 pan with oil. Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees. Beat dry cake mix, sour cream, oil and eggs on low for 2 minutes, batter will be thick. Pour into prepared pan. Drizzle honey over batter. Mix brown sugar and cinnamon, then sprinkle on top of honey and batter. With a knife swirl through ingredients. Bake for 25 minutes. Under bake rather than over bake. Mix powdered sugar, milk and vanilla. Drizzle over warm cake. I love to eat a piece while its still warm. FYI: I don't really measure the honey, I just pop the pour top and cover the batter.
