Forgiveness

I saw this shirt on Pinterest and I thought "WOW" what great parents these two boys have. When I was young my dad would make me and my sister Terri stand together and hug until we were through fighting and it worked, within minutes we would be giggling. It's called Forgiveness and the boy who shot the little children at the school had none. Without forgiveness you have anger, bitterness and hatred = and then something bad is gonna happen = evil.

"Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us
and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil"
Ephesians 4: 26 & 30 also talks about Anger and Forgiveness

Teach your children forgiveness, when they get mad at someone, brother, sister, best friend and (even you) tie them together with a big ribbon and top it off with a bow or make a shirt like the one these boys are wearing. Search Pinterest for "get along shirt" you will see many parents are using this idea. BFF (Best Friends Forever).

Honey Butter

Look what I've been making! Cinnamon Honey Butter. I found this recipe at tidymom.net. I've made this recipe a few times and I think the honey I bought was a tad strong so I reduced it from 1 cup of honey to 3/4 cup of honey and it is just right. Amy and Ben had some Acadian honey and it seemed milder than the honey I had so I might would have used the full cup. Use less and you can always add more! This would be a great housewarming gift with some homemade biscuits.

Honey Butter
3/4 cup of honey
1 cup of soft butter (2 sticks of Parkay)
1 cup of powdered sugar
2 teaspoons of cinnamon

Beat the butter, honey and cinnamon together. Mix in the powdered sugar. That's it! It's great on the 7 up biscuits, pancakes or toast. Refrigerate.

Sparkley Tights

I bought some tights for my granddaughter and decided they needed some BLING! I used a washable fabric glue, toothpick, some iron on jewels and a muffin cup to hold the glue. I stuffed the panty hose with the plastic bags you get when you buy groceries, fill to about the size of their leg. I bought the alphabet jewels at Walmart and I used a lot of them, just peel them off and flip them upside down on the table. Pour a small amount of glue on the muffin cup, dab the toothpick in the glue and then touched the glue onto the back of the jewel. Place the jewel onto the tights and with your finger just press down slightly. Hang the tights to dry. After about an hour pull on the tights in different places so the glue  won't stick to the plastic bags. These tights are washable, hang to dry.

Woman's Keg Toss Champ 2012

Last year my daughter beat me, so this year I had to redeem myself. WooHoo!! I did it, Woman's Keg Toss Champ 2012. Growing up, we lived just inside Houston, Texas and 50 years ago it was the country. We had cows in the back yard and the closest people were my cousins down the road. My parents sold that house and they turned it into a parking lot and I moved out to Waller. I consider myself a country girl and country life is not easy. Once my car got stuck and I had to jack it up, put wood under it and get myself un-stuck. Almost all of my children learned to drive on a tractor. It was great and I wouldn't trade my life for anything. So, I knew I had to get momentum because the kegs are heavy, so I started to spin with it. Now they waited until I had one or two alcoholic beverages in me so when I threw the keg I went with it....tuck & roll baby, tuck & roll. So I got up, brushed off my pride and remembered Reba's song "Cow girls Don't Cry". You know I think I'll try it again next year!

Dry Erase Name Tags

I saw some Chalk Name tags that I wanted but my chalk projects never look like those do, the chalk is to fat and they smudge. I did see that I could buy a chalk pen that doesn't smudge as easy as chalk and it is a fine tip, but  I would only use these a few times a year and I would imagine the chalk pen would dry out. Then I had an idea, what about dry erase tags, my dry erase marker has a fine tip and they don't smudge as easy as chalk. So I cut the shape with my Cricut, inked the edges and then laminated it with a cheap laminater I bought at Walmart. I love my laminater, I have used it millions of times and I think it was under $25.00. Trim the tags close but leave a 1/8" clear edge all the way around the tag. I used E6000 to attach them to the clothespin. Make sure the top of the clothes pin goes to the top edge of the tag so you can squeeze it without rubbing the dry erase ink off. Now I can label EVERYTHING!!! I will be labeling the food I make for Christmas, just squeeze the clothespin and place it on the lip of the bowl or dish. I can hang pictures and Christmas cards with these. Put a magnet on the back and use them as reminders on your fridge or on the visor in your car, or on your purse. You can leave love notes to your husband or good luck today on a pair of tenny shoes. The possibilities are endless!!

Cup of Smores

These are the easiest smores I have ever made. My niece's came over to help me with the family ornaments so I paid them in chocolate and they liked it. You could put this in a 13 x 9 pan but I like the individual cups of smores but it might take two of these babies to get your chocolate fix.

Cup of Smores
8 oz of semi-sweet chocolate bits
14 oz of sweet evaporated milk
1 teaspoon of vanilla
2 cups of miniature marshmallows
4 cups of Golden Graham cereal

Melt chocolate bits with sweet milk, stirring often until chocolate bits are melted. I did this in the microwave but you could do it on the stove top also. Add vanilla, stir in marshmallows and cereal. At this point it seems very wet but as it cools it will harden. Spoon into muffin cups or an oil sprayed 13 x 9 pan. Let cool or do like we did and eat it with spoons. I can never wait!

Blue Jean Christmas Tree Skirt

I decided to make a new tree skirt for my Christmas tree this year. The old one was red with white trim, but my Christmas tree is a western theme so it was time for a change. I purchased 2 yards of blue jean material and 2 yards of red bandanna material. I made a pattern by choosing how wide I wanted the skirt, then I drew half of it on a piece of wide paper. I folded in into fourths, cut one of the fourths adding 1/2" on both sides. I wanted 1/2" of frayed edges on all sides. I sewed the stars on using a zig zag stitch, sewed the panels together and started to sew the ruffle on the bottom. I got one foot from being finished and I ran out of the red check ribbon on the ruffle, I could have cried!! So off to the store to buy a role of ribbon. I snipped the raw edges every 1/4" and added bows on each panel. Now my tree skirt matches my tree. I have rope lasso's, red bandannas, stars, frayed Christmas pom poms and a big red bow on top. There is a star up there but you can't see it, I'll have to fix that next year!
