Painting Shamrocks

I wanted to test painting with a piece of fun foam and Tulip slick paint. I cut a heart out of a piece of paper and drew it onto a piece of brown scrap fun foam. I glued it to a plastic  holder for thread. I stamped on a piece of t-shirt and used a toothpick to draw on a stem. The paint is dimensional fabric paint and is washable. I have found the thicker I put it on it seems sticky after it dries but after washing and drying it is fine. You could also cut a heart from a sponge. This is a great project for kids, PLAY WITH YOUR KIDS!

Crayon Batik

I made me a shirt for St.Patrick's day but I wanted to try crayon batik on a t-shirt and I just so happened to have this shamrock sitting on my desk. I placed a piece of wax paper down on my ironing board, then the t-shirt and then  a shamrock. I took a knife and scraped a crayon all over the shamrock (pic 1), cover it with another piece of wax paper and iron it until it is all melted (pic 2). I could tell that was not going to be enough, so I scraped some more and ironed again. I removed the shamrock, placed a paper towel over the design and ironed again to remove any excess
crayon. This was quick and fun. I think I will try to just color a shamrock onto a t-shirt and then iron it.
