Wrist Mum

My nephew Mikey needs eight of these wrist mums for his Homecoming game at school. You can't tell by the photo but there is fur behind the purple flower. I tried yellow behind it and purple behind it but it needed a little bit of white to bring out the flower. He plays baseball so I glued a baseball onto a star and placed a falcon (mascot) on the baseball. Add beads and tulle on a purple ribbon and they are done. I told her 12" of ribbon per wrist but I was wrong, I used 30" of ribbon per wrist. Thankfully she bought plenty. I think the girls are really going to like these. They are precious!

Water Bottle Koozie

Straight from work I go to the pond down the road and walk for 30 minutes. It has a nice paved path and ducks. It is hidden in a quiet little park in Hockley. There were a few days this summer when it was really hot and I had to figure out a way to carry some cold water with me. I had made a can Koozie before and used the same pattern for the water bottle except I made the holder longer and I put a strap on it. Before, I would carry the bottle in my hand and the ice would melt to quickly. Now I place the half frozen bottle in the Koozie and it stays nice and cold for my walk. The Koozie matches my walking outfit too.

Cufflets

I saw some really cute cufflets online Saturday and I knew I could make my own version. I like the big chunky look with big accent pieces on them. If it goes out of style, put it away for a year and it will be back in style in no time. Both of these cufflets are about two inches wide with elastic inside, so one size fits all. I can't wear most metals because I am allergic to them so this kind of jewelry is just right for me. I'm going to string some turquoise beads and wear them with the brown cufflet. Won't that be precious?

Girls Baby Blankets

I love making blankets for baby girls, they are so cute and frilly. We have a lot of boys in the family and boy blankets are just not as cute as girl blankets. These blankets are not made to be folded and put away, they are made to be used for many years. When they are frayed, they should be gently put away as a keepsake. I include the blankie poem with each blanket I make.

Bazaar Doll #3

We are having a Church Bazaar in October and they asked for help dressing some dolls. They bought 50 of these dolls and I took three home to dress. You would think with five girls I would have made lots of dresses for Barbies, but you would be wrong. You can find cheap clothes for Barbie everywhere. This doll is bigger than a Barbie, she is a 15" doll which makes it a little easier. The first doll was "Trial and Error", lots of error. The second one turned out beautiful but I forgot to take a picture of that one. This one is a Christmas doll, isn't she cute. Now on to bigger projects.

Homecoming Mums

This Friday is Homecoming for my niece and nephew, DJ and Laura. DJ and his girlfriend are both seniors so their mum colors are gold and white. The underclass mums are red, white and gold. DJ picked a triple mum and a teddy bear for his girlfriend. Since he likes to fish I added the little fish at the top of the mum, (it's just stuck in and can be removed). Laura has a single mum with a teddy bear. Go Cy Woods!
