Summer Scarf

In Texas it is hot! Everywhere you go the air conditioners are on high. When I go to Church, no matter where I sit it feels like the air is blowing right on me, so I made myself this summer scarf. I wear it like a scarf outside but when I get inside it covers me just enough without getting hot. I hemmed all four edges and then gathered the lenght down both sides. I think it probably took me thirty minutes to make and I plan on making one in black also.

Precious Hand Muff

What little girl doesn't need a pretty hand muff? Wouldn't this be cute to wear to a tea party? Precious!!! The fur is sewn to a silky backing and it is stuffed with poly filler. The ribbon just runs through the center. Add some pearls and a hat and you will be set.

Sneaky Snake

I made two snakes today. One was sewn and turned inside out, the other one was sewn on the outside and trimmed close to the edge. These snakes have wire inside of them so they can bend and hang from just about anywhere. I made these for my grand kids so they can play hide and go seek with them this summer. Maybe their Mom's should hide them and let the kids find them after breakfast. PLAY WITH YOUR KIDS.

More Twin Scrap Pages

This is the last of the twin pages. I published the first set about a week ago.The first page is for December; Cookies for Santa. The second page is for March, Easter will be March 31st next year so the page is; Easter Egg Hunt. Since Easter is in March the next page is all about the boys and their big sister. I also made her a shirt with a heart and the saying "Big Sister of Twins, outnumbered. June is for Father's day so the next page is all about camping and fishing; There's no place I'd rather be than camping with my boys next to me. The last page is for the Fourth of July. I took some foam and layed it in paint and then layed it on some crumbled up grocery bags. Now if the boys decide to make an apperance in July, all of the pages will need to be moved up a month and I will have to make an August page.

Meat Bread

I haven't made this in a very long time.  I am going to give you the basic recipe and from there you can make it into anything. You can add Ranch dressing, pizza sauce or maybe BBQ sauce. Think of all of the meat and cheese choices you can add....yum. You could make this every night and have a completely different meal each time. I made this before work, stuck it in the fridg and baked it when we got home. This recipe made one roll.
Meat bread
1 package of rapid rise yeast
1 tablespoon of sugar
1 cup of very warm water
1 teaspoon of salt
2 1/2 cups of flour
In a large bowl mix the yeast, sugar and water and let sit for 10 minutes. Add the salt and flour and mix well. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes, roll out to about 15 x 10. Layer some ham down the center, layer the cheese, ham, cheese, Hormel turkey pepperoni and more ham. Cut diagonals off of each side. Criss Cross over the top of the ham. Cover with cling wrap and refrigerate. Bake at 400 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes. I baked mine for 20 and it was perfect. If you don't like it so browned on top cover it with foil after about 15 minutes. Brush with butter and enjoy!

Twins Baby Calendar Pages

I did some research for twin scrapbook pages but didn't find much, so I decided to go with stick with the same format times two. I also read you should make two scrapbooks, one for each of them but its hard for the Mom's to finish one, I can't imagine trying to care for two babies and working on two albums, that would drive a Mom crazy so I only did one. The page at the top is the Birth month: From the moment you were born I knew it would be Two-riffic. The second page is for September: I see the fingerprints of God all over them. The third page is for Halloween: Picking Pumpkins. The fourth page is for November: Hold onto your Family with both hands. The next page is for January: Teddy Bear Wishes, Snow Flake Kisses, the bear has a tag that reads, Everything with you I'll share except of course my teddy bear. The last page is for February: Whooo Looves Yoou

Coffee Frosting for Brownies

I saw this recipe for Mocha Brownies from browneyedbaker.com but I have to say the older I get the easier I try to make things. She has the recipe for the brownies and for the frosting but I decided to buy a box fudge brownie and just use her frosting recipe. Her recipe only made an 8 x 8 dish of brownies but I bought a family size mix and used my dish that is slightly smaller than a 13 x 9 pan. I baked the brownies according to the box directions. I didn't double the frosting because I don't think brownies need much frosting. I made a few changes, it calls for 1 1/2 teaspoon of heavy cream but I didn't have any so I used milk and I didn't have espresso so I used Folgers instant coffee. Next time I need a dessert I will be making these again, I love the coffee/chocolate taste!
Frosting
1 teaspoon of vanilla
1 teaspoon of instant coffee
1/2 cup of soft Parkay butter
1 1/4 cup of powdered sugar
1 1/2 teaspoon of milk
Mix the vanilla and coffee and set aside. On medium high whip the butter. Reduce the speed to low and add the powdered sugar slowly. Once all of the powdered sugar is mixed in set the speed to medium high and beat 2 more minutes. Add coffee and vanilla. Add the milk. I found the frosting a bit to thin so I added more powered sugar and beat a minute more. Spread over brownies and enjoy.
