Christmas Pom Pom

I am making some Christmas Pom Poms to go on my Christmas tree this year. I have 5 assorted ribbons about 1 inch wide by 6 inches long. I ironed the material before I cut them but I should have left them scrunched, they look much fuller that way. Lay out 30 cut pieces (6 of each) on some jute twine and then just tie the twine very tight. Pull the pieces in different directions and scrunch. I spritzed them with water, scrunched it into a Solo cup, placed a heavy can on top of it and let it dry. I used burlap as one of the pieces for a great Country Christmas tree. Aren't they Precious? I have some strips left over so maybe I'll make a wreath to match.

You ROCK

I saw this cute idea on tsjphotography.com, she has cute tags you can print out also. Her tags say You've Been RACKed (Random Acts of Christmas Knidness). I made a change and came up with You ROCK (Random Opportunities of Christmas Kindness). I will print 25 of these, cut them into a tag shape, add ribbon and hand them out with odds and ends. If I have fun with this I might even change it to (Random Opportunities of Christian Kindness) and do it the whole year. I Googled (Random Acts of Kindness lists) and there are many to choose from. Here are a list of some of my favorites....

1) Valentine cards in August
2) Funny notes to make people laugh (share a smile)
3) Volunteer to read
4) Hand out snacks, cookies, drinks, candy canes, lollipops, hot chocolate
5) Volunteer to clean disabled or the elderly persons homes
6) Make paper flowers and share them
7) Blessings bags (ziploc bags with gum, tooth brush & paste, deodorant, comb...etc)
8) Homemade cookies and the recipe
9) Spaghetti dinner for a tired friend
10) A Hug

Star Christmas Ornaments

I decided to make some new Christmas ornaments for our tree this year. First I made these stars from old blue jeans (recycled). I cut the star shapes and some jute twine. I sewed the star shape placing the jute twine under the sewn part. When I had one last point to sew I stuffed some stuffing inside and then finished sewing the point. I added the stuffing because it wasn't as cute flat. I took a wire brush and roughed up the edges some. This will look so cute on my Texas Christmas tree!

7UP Biscuits - 5*****

I got this recipe from my beautiful sister, Jessica (the one in the middle). She told me these were the best biscuits and that I need to try them. I don't usually buy 7UP so it was a while before I tried this recipe. Now I'm ready to make the biscuits but I'm out of sour cream, ugh!! So I finally got all of the ingredients, I start to mix everything together and I am still not sure about this recipe, 7UP and sour cream??? Let me just say these are the best biscuits I have ever had. They are GREAT! Thanks to my sister, I now have the best biscuit recipe EVER, and we should know, we come from a biscuit eatin family.

7UP Biscuits
2 cups of Bisquick
1/2 cup of sour cream
1/2 cup of 7UP
1/4 cup of melted Parkay butter

Pre-heat oven to 450 degrees. Mix the sour cream, 7UP and Bisquick together. Turn out onto a flour cover counter, knead 10 minutes and pat to 1/2" thick. Cut with a 2" biscuit cutter. Melt the butter and pour into a 9" square pan. Place the biscuits in the pan and bake for 10-12 minutes or till golden brown.
This makes 9 big fat biscuits, perfect for jam or gravy. Enjoy!

Home of the Bulldogs

What do you make for an auction in Bulldog country??? A stadium blanket with paw prints of course, silly. I stitched the paw prints onto some fleece material, snipped and knotted the edges. This blanket went for $100.00 in the auction. Not bad for a blanket I made in about 2 hours.

Voting

My computer went down and God told me it is time to go vote. I go to the Monaville fire station to vote and I'm the only person there and I'm number 100. We all cheered! These sweet ladies are handing out cookies when you vote, since I'm number 100, I get two cookies. I love the country!!!

Coconut Creme Cake 5*****

My mom made this cake and I fell in love with it, yummmmy! This cake is super moist and delicious, I give it a 5 star rating. I wanted to put pecan pieces on top but then my taste test dummies wouldn't have tried it. The recipe is on the back of the coconut creme pie filling, except for adding 1/2 cup of Half & Half. My mom added it because she had it left over in her fridge and wanted to use it before it went bad. I'm glad she did but next time just freeze 1/4 of a cup of Half & Half in small disposable cups. After they are frozen just place the cups in a zipper baggie labeled 1/4 cup Half & Half and then you can
pull out, what you need, when you need it.

Coconut Creme Cake
1 can (21oz) Coconut Creme Pie Filling
2 eggs
1/2 cup of Half & Half
1 box yellow cake mix
1/2 cup of brown sugar
Pecans
Pats of Parkay butter

Pre-heat the oven to 350 degrees and spray a 9 x 13 pan with oil spray. Mix the pie filling, eggs and Half & Half together. Add the cake mix. Pour the mixture into the pan, sprinkle with brown sugar, add pecans and pats of Parkay butter. Bake according to the directions on the cake box. I baked mine for 29 minutes and it is perfect.
